The Joseph Alfred Remai Family Foundation was established in 2012. The Remai family has called Saskatchewan home for four generations, and the Foundation reflects Joe Remai’s deep commitment to giving back to the community and fostering positive, lasting change across the province. Following Joe’s death in 2025, the Foundation will continue his extraordinary philanthropic legacy.
The Foundation is dedicated to supporting Saskatchewan institutions and organizations that work to improve the well-being of community members. Its primary areas of interest include health, education, and social well-being.
Since its inception, the Foundation has contributed more than $23 million to a wide range of impactful organizations and initiatives. Most significantly, the Foundation made a transformative gift to Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s new Saskatoon campus at Innovation Place, enhancing the educational infrastructure and opportunities for students and the community for decades to come.
The Foundation is also honoured to have supported projects that have:
• Secured innovative medical equipment for local hospitals;
• Advanced research infrastructure at Canada’s Centre for Pandemic Research at VIDO; and
• Strengthened the programming, infrastructure and long-term sustainability of social service organizations.
The Foundation supports Canadian registered charities with a demonstrated record of success that are based in Saskatchewan or provide services that benefit the province or its residents. Grants are not awarded to individuals, for deficit operational funding, or for conferences or events. Funding is also not provided for religious activities or political purposes. Support for arts, culture, and recreation is considered only on an exceptional basis.
The Foundation is not currently accepting unsolicited funding proposals or applications. All grant requests are by invitation only.
